House Painters Auckland

Looking for experienced house painters in Auckland? Painters Auckland repaints homes across the North Shore, central Auckland, West and East Auckland and the Hibiscus Coast.

We handle full house repaints and every part of them: exterior cladding and trims, interior walls and ceilings, doors, windows and colour changes, plus the filling and plastering that gets each surface ready.

Getting ready to sell, bringing a tired rental back up, or finally changing a colour scheme you inherited, you get one written quote for the whole house and a painter who explains what each part involves.

Why a whole-house repaint is planned differently

Painting a house as one job lets us sequence it properly. Exterior prep and priming happen in settled weather, interiors fill the wet days, and trims and doors are finished together so colours match from room to room. It also saves the repeated set-up of painting in stages over a couple of years.

What a House Repaint Includes

A repaint is mostly preparation. The painting is the quick part, and it only lasts if what sits underneath is sound.

  • Exterior washing to remove salt, grime and mould before anything else
  • Scraping and sanding back flaking paint, and priming bare timber
  • Filling cracks and nail holes, and sealing gaps around windows and trims
  • Interior walls, ceilings, skirting, architraves and doors
  • Colour changes, with extra coats where you’re going from dark to light
  • Floors, furniture, gardens, decks and paving covered before work starts

Repainting to sell or re-let

A repaint before a sale or a new tenancy is about clean, neutral and quick. We focus on the rooms and surfaces buyers and tenants notice first, and we can work back from a listing or vacancy date if you tell us at the quote stage.

What Affects Your House Painting Quote

We don’t publish set prices because two houses of the same size can need very different amounts of work. These are the things that move the number.

Size and storeys

A two-storey house needs scaffolding or towers for the upper walls and eaves, which adds set-up time and hire cost compared with a single-level home.

Surface condition

Sound paint needs a wash and a light sand. Flaking, chalky or bare timber needs scraping, sanding and priming, and that preparation is often the biggest part of the job.

Cladding type

Weatherboard, plaster, brick and fibre cement each take different preparation and paint systems. Weatherboards have far more edges to cut in than flat cladding.

Colour change

Staying with the same colour is quicker. Going dark to light, or covering a strong colour, can mean an extra coat.

Access

Steep sections, tight boundaries and planting hard against the house all slow down set-up and protection.

Trim detail

Windows, doors, fascia, soffits and spouting take more time than their area suggests because most of it is brushwork.

How we quote. After a site visit you get a written quote listing each surface, the preparation involved and the number of coats, so you can compare quotes like for like.

How a House Repaint Runs

  1. Site visit

We walk around the house with you, check each surface and talk through colours and timing.

  2. Written quote

A quote listing surfaces, prep, products and coats, plus a suggested order of work.

  3. Exterior first

Washing, repairs, priming and exterior coats go on in settled weather.

  4. Interiors in stages

Rooms are cleared or covered one area at a time so you can keep living at home.

  5. Final walkthrough

We check every side and room with you, touch up anything you spot and take everything away.

Why Homeowners Choose Painters Auckland

One quote for the whole house

You deal with one painter and one plan instead of juggling separate quotes for inside, outside and the roof.

Prep that isn’t skipped

Most early paint failures trace back to rushed preparation. We quote the prep your house needs, then do it.

Your home protected

Gardens, paving, floors and furniture are covered before work starts and uncovered only when each area is finished.

Straight answers

If a board is rotten or a wall needs more than paint, we tell you before we start instead of painting over it.

House Painting Questions

How long does it take to paint a house in Auckland?

It depends on the size of the house, how much preparation it needs and the weather. A single-level exterior in good condition is much quicker than a two-storey house with flaking weatherboards, and rain stops exterior work altogether. We give you a realistic timeframe for your house at the quote stage and keep you updated if weather moves it.

Can you paint the inside and outside at the same time?

Yes, and it often works well. We usually start outside while the weather is settled and move indoors on wet or windy days, so the job keeps moving. One combined job also means one set of trims, doors and colours planned together.

Do we need to move out while the house is painted?

No. Exterior work barely affects daily life, and interiors are done in stages so you always have a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen to use. Low-odour waterborne paints make it easier to stay put.

Is it worth painting a house before selling?

Often, yes, especially the exterior and the main living areas, because that’s where first impressions form. It isn’t always needed, though. If the paint is in reasonable condition, a thorough clean and some touch-ups may be enough, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case.

Can you help with choosing colours?

We can talk through how colours will look on your cladding and in your light, and what’s practical for your surfaces. We always recommend testing sample pots on the actual wall, in morning and afternoon light, before committing.

Do you paint rental properties between tenants?

Yes. Landlords and property managers use us for quick, neutral repaints between tenancies. Give us the vacancy dates and we’ll quote a scope that fits them.
